Paper Cups (Hong Kong)

With seven million people on one tiny island called Hong Kong, people are expendable.

I heard from several of my friends who have already traveled to mainland China that if someone hits someone with a car – they backup and run over them three or four times – to make sure they are dead. That’s not to be cruel. But if that person lives, the person who hit them is responsible for paying all of their medical expenses and recovery. But if they die, the person who hit them is only responsible for paying HKD $30,000 in death expense. So it’s cheaper to kill them.

But not only is it the mortality – where people are expendable. It’s emotional attachment, sex, intimacy, and friendship – all are thrown away almost without thinking. And why not? Why invest in someone? Or one person? Right? There are 6.999 million people I can find to replace the person who is not giving me what I need.
