It's been 19 days. I have gotten a massage at 1 o’clock in the morning (with no happy ending). I have done karaoke for five hours straight and adjacent to the “torture box” as my friends called the karaoke room we rented it also included a bathroom. I rented my new flat in Lan Kwai Fong. I had vodka shots in a Russian freezer. I have taken a salsa class and sucked. I was invited to a tango Halloween party – but chickened out because my “Adam” costume leaf would not stay stuck to my crotch. I had my luggage stolen, found, lost, and found again. I woke up my Hong Kong sister stewardess at 3 AM in London to help me find it when she had to fly back to Hong Kong in less than 3 hours. I had my biometrics of my thumb put on my Hong Kong ID so I can check in and out of the airport by pressing my thumb onto a screen and bypass the lines at passport control. I have had my employee id sent out throughout the company – and I was probably the first one in Asia-Pacific history to have an employee ID with a black eye. And I have found the smartest person I have ever met to be 9 year old. I celebrated China’s birthday by watching the fireworks on television. And celebrated the Mid-Autumn festival - by buying moon cakes for him and his mother and swinging my red / gold fish lantern he bought me. I have had his mother’s live-in maid wash my large Piggly Wiggly T-shirt that I bought in a mall here in Hong Kong a dozen times in hopes that it would shrink. And lastly, I have a crush on a newspaper writer, Angie Wong, from HK Magazine, who I have never met nor do I know that’s her real name. But she is probably one of the best writers I have ever read.
That’s less than a month here. What’s going to happen in the next 3 years?
