Homesick (Hong Kong)

It’s when the air turns cooler and the bluer skies debut that I began to ache for home.

Fall is my favorite time of the year.

When I lived in the United States, I miss driving up to the Appalachian mountain range near Ashville, North Carolina to see mother nature show off her new Jackson Pollock painting of splattered orange and reds.

And usually I would go up to north Georgia just as November began to go camping near where they filmed the movie, “Deliverance”. That means taking sub-zero baths at the birth of the Chattanooga River in a mountain stream. I loved seeing the steam rise through the morning sun from your body. Then you do all you can to move quickly with the bio-degradable soap to clean the important parts before they froze off.

But most of all I love Thanksgiving and the ritual trip of driving home.
